This workshop focuses on the use of social media as a social action tool in promoting social justice.

It is aimed at those in the health and social care professions who have no/little/basic knowledge of social media and want to learn more about how to use it.

By the end of the workshop you will know more about

  • Technology and Social Media.
  • Using Social Media.
  • Interacting with, engaging with and getting your message out to people/groups/organisations using online tools.
  • Building links with other social justice oriented people/groups/organisations.

It is hoped that you leave the session with ideas for action and sufficient resources to enable you to learn more about the differences that we can all make individually and collectively.


Workshop Facilitator

Kerry Cuskelly is a social work team leader in mental health. Kerry is interested in the use of social media as a vehicle for social workers to engage in social action. Kerry’s work is informed by critical and radical approaches. She is an occasional lecturer on social work and social care courses. She is a contributor to Practice Links, an associate editor with Critical and Radical Social Work and helped start the Social Work Action Network in Ireland. Kerry tweets from @cuskellk and is an admin with @SWAN_IRL and @SW4Choice.
