Description of relevant experience/profile:

In my current employment with the HSE, I support adults with a disability and older adults in receipt of HSE services raise concerns and report complaints pertaining to their received services including poor treatment and poor practices, neglect, omissions of care and systemic abuse.  I work closely with Service-Users and their support network to elevate their voice and integrity. I navigate the pathway and represent the Service-User in engaging with HSE to resolve their reported concerns. I attend meetings with Service-Users, review response reports to determine appropriate accountability and problem solving to reach positive outcomes.

When l started out on my Social Work career in 2011, I practiced with Tusla Child Protection Services before transitioning to HSE Safeguarding and Protection Teams on the east and west of the country. I practiced as a Senior Social Work role with HSE Adult Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Team. Following this, l practiced with the HSE Community Mental Health Team for adults experiencing mental health difficulties and homelessness. Thereafter, l practiced as Principal Social Worker with responsibility for HSE Primary Care, Disability, Older Persons and Community Palliative Care Services. This role was followed by taking up the position of Principal Social Worker in HSE Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore (MRHT) with a shared commitment to HSE Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise (MRHP).

Qualifications: University of Galway - Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Political Science-English Literature and Philosophy (2009), (Hons): Master of Arts in Social Work (2011), (Hons): HDip in Social Work Practice Teaching, Supervision and Management (2018), (Hons): Royal College of Physicians -Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare (2021), (Hons).

Recently completed training in October 2024: Clinical Supervision training: An integrative 5-day immersive programme for Social Workers underpinned by evidenced-based theoretical frameworks and models. Delivered by CI Psychology Solutions Limited.

Current studies: Student of the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015, 2-year Mentorship Program facilitated by HSE Department of Human Rights. Enacting Human Rights in the Lives of Adults with Disabilities (Micro-Credential with TCD).
