FULLY BOOKED ACEs Academic and Practice Forum - Domestic Violence

9.00 am - 1.00 pm

Room 3074, Arts Block, Trinity College Dublin

In collaboration with the School of Social Work & Social Policy, Trinity College Dublin.

WHAT IS AN ACEs ACADEMIC AND PRACTICE FORUM?

A continuous professional development event co-facilitated by the IASW ACEs Associate Group, interested academics from universities offering social work courses, students and social work practitioners. Each Aca-Prac Forum will

  • provide a space where Irish social workers / academics and students can
  • exchange ideas, experiences and knowledge about ACEs

WHAT WILL THE TCD DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FORUM EXPLORE?

A member of the ACEs Associate group will provide a brief overview of what ACEs are; Professor Stephanie Holt from TCD will explore what research is telling us about domestic violence as an ACE and David Mc Dunphy from the Daughters of Charity, Dublin Safer Families Service will describe his practical application of ACEs knowledge in responding to service users where domes-tic violence is a concern. Once the presentations are finished, the topic will open to the audience for discussion. The purpose of this new CPD format is to

  • learn from one another, acknowledge what social work is already doing to respond to the negative impact of ACEs across the lifespan and to identify
  • areas of further practice development

If you have any questions or would like further information about this CPD event, please feel free to contact Mary Kennedy, Katie Murphy or Angela Moore, ACEs Associate Group members @ aces.associategroup@gmail.com or message us on Twitter @AAssociateGroup. There are more ACEs Academic & Practice Forums planned with universities nationwide throughout 2020 so keep your eyes open!
