This online course will introduce social workers to mindfulness and meditation practices which can provide space in our days and introduce practices which can act as genuine supports in the art of building resilience, enhancing listening and communication skills and sustaining wellness.
The course will take place over three days from 9.00 - 11.00am on Tuesday 14th, 21st and 28th July. The facilitator has asked that participants schedule in a provisional date of Tuesday, 4th August in case of broadband failure or facilitator illness on any of the course dates.
The facilitator has also offerred a short orientation session from 9.00 - 9.30am on 7th July for those unaccustomed to using Zoom as platform. This session is optional. Please email cpdofficer@iasw.ie after booking the course if you would like to participate in the session on the 7th.
This three day course will introduce the idea of how mindfulness and meditation practices can provide spaces in our days. It is these spaces that can nourish and replenish our body and minds. It is not about adding to our already top heavy days but about intertwining into our existing routines. But it is not a quick fix and it does take practice. The course will have discussion and theory but above all it will have experience of practice and also small practices which, if you choose you can begin to introduce into your lives. We hope the course will act as a solid starting base and an opportunity to see if this is something for you and provide the signposts to continue this journey if you choose.
The workshop will be facilitated by Niamh Bruce and is suitable for beginners and those with an existing practice in mindfulness.
This event is subsidised by the HSE National Health and Social Care Professions Office.
