Our panel of IASW members will comprise students, practice educators and social workers with an interest in the topic. Chaired by Dr Marovatsanga, the panel will have the opportunity to ask Dr Tedam questions they have about both the paper presented on the day and Dr Tedam’s extensive body of work in this area. Dr Prospera Tedam

A registered social worker with over 25 years practice experience in children and families social work, Dr Prospera Tedam has been teaching social work in Higher Education Institutions for 17 years. She is currently working at the United Arab Emirates University and delivers training, seminars and presentations globally in the area of anti-racist, anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practice in social work.

Her recent book ‘Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice’ introduces the 4D2P Framework which will be discussed during this presentation as one way to uncover and address racism in contemporary social work practice.

Dr Washington Marovatsanga is a registered social worker, educator, researcher and equity diversity consultant.  He was recently awarded a PhD in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences from National University of Ireland Galway for his research on educational, practice and policy responses underpinning social work service provision for Black Africans in Ireland. His current focus is on addressing epistemic racism and epistemic injustice to inform antiracist practice through the design, development and teaching of culturally plural decolonised curricula, inclusive anti -racist education and delivery of equity diversity training programmes.

Dr Marovatsanga is also currently an active member of the IASW Anti -Racism Advisory Group and co-ordinates its Education and research stream.
