Town Hall Meeting to discuss the new Social Work Apprenticeship Scheme

13:00 - 14:00

online

Note: Bookings for the meeting will close at 10am on Tuesday 2nd of July.

As you may be aware already, Minister Patrick O’Donovan TD and Minister of State Anne Rabbitte TD recently officially launched two new educational pathways into social work. These are (1) a social work tertiary degree pathway, co-delivered by UCC and Cork ETB, leading to a BSW (Hons) degree and (2) an Apprenticeship in Social Work, leading to a level 9 MSW/PGDSW qualification, also from UCC.

The latter is an ‘earn while you learn’ programme, allowing participants to earn a salary while studying for their Social Work qualification. These two new pathways – and especially the apprenticeship – incorporate a very new approach to social work education and training.

IASW is scheduling an online Town Hall Meeting, where Apprenticeship initiative in particular will be explained and participants will have an opportunity to comment and ask questions in relation to it.

We would recommend you read the literature on the scheme in advance of participating in the meeting, a link to the materials can be found here.
