Talk Time

At the IASW we are inviting members to join online Anti-Racism reflective practice Talk Time sessions. The purpose of the Talk Time Session is to offer a valuable, confidential, and focused space for IASW members to share, reflect, observe, process, and learn from their lived experiences or observations of racism and racial discrimination in the workplace.

The Talk Time session will be an online, semi-structured open group. All active IASW members are welcome to join. The group will meet once a month for an hour over six months. Each

session will be facilitated by two members of the Anti-Racism Advisory Group (ARAG). The Talk Time session aims to create a safe space for ethnic minority social workers to share their experiences and concerns about racism at work. It will provide a space for all the members to learn about racial discrimination through other members’ lived experiences. The group will signpost its members, should they look for information in relation to community support or in relation to reporting incidents of racism.

If you would like to take part, please book a place on the Talk Time Sessions please email your interest to aragatiasw@gmail.com. Please include the date of the session you are booking into. There are 10 places available on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration is free and for the IASW members only.

Important: To attend these sessions all the participants are required to keep their cameras turned on for group cohesion.
