Southern Region

About the Group:

The Southern Region SIG was set up in 2005. The group continues to date and endeavours to support the work of the IASW on a local platform across organisations. We aim to connect social workers locally to discuss, advocate and support professional development of the social work role.

Meetings:

  • The role of the committee is to facilitate members to discuss the above issues and to support IASW work/ functions at local level.
  • You do not have to be on the local committee to attend meetings, all members are welcome.  
  • The group meet approximately 4 times a year online over Zoom, and at least once per year in person in the Southern region. 

In accordance with our Special Interest Group Terms of Reference, SIG’s shall:

  • Hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year and elect a new committee.
  • The Committee shall meet not less than four times per year and can include the AGM, but more frequently if considered necessary by the committee. The quorum for all meetings of the Committee shall be four (4) members.
